On the third day of Christmas…

Pooches, my manservant woke up energized this morning and headed out early to his walk/run park.  Starlight and I, quite tired from the fun and frivolity with Fred and Buttons over long holiday weekend, decided we needed a day of rest!  We were fast asleep when my manservant returned from his walk/run.  He immediately retrieved the leaf gathering tools and began his planned “all day leaf gathering” activity.  It was mid-morning when rain began to fall.  My manservant gleefully retreated inside and feigned disappointment that his leaf-gathering plans had to be cancelled for the remainder of the day.

He decided to join Starlight and me in our day of resting (other than taking care of the wash day chores that had not been performed yesterday).  A trip to the fishmonger to acquire tonight’s dinner fare was planned in conjunction with an excursion to my sunken Trace.  The rain had temporarily stopped and Starlight and I had a grand time hiking through the thick layers of fallen leaves as we headed “off trail” and into the forest.  Smells were plenteous and a grand time was had by all.

Our return to our den was marked by my manservant retreating to the kitchen to prepare a delightfully tasty porridge using smoked turkey, dressing and gravy leftover from Christmas dinner.  Our picnic bench was wet from the morning rain and the decision was made to dine ’round the Christmas tree in our den.  Lunch was topped off with a wee bit of figgy pudding.  Hooray!

This afternoon will be spent continuing our resting day interspersed with a bit of play with our toys we received for Christmas.

Merry 3rd day of Christmas, pooches!

We could have had a picnic here if we had thought to bring the smoked turkey.
