Pooches, the promised cold front has come through and we have been enjoying absolutely wonderful weather today! Woo hoo! In a surprise to Starlight and me, my manservant declined to go on his walk/run this morning saying he was cream-crackered and opted instead to proclaim it to be a day of much-needed cocooning. All of the windows and doors were opened and we spent the morning enjoying the cool breeze blowing through the den. My manservant settled in our library gazing out of the screen door enjoying the chilly temperature, hot tea, and a raspberry scone. Bliss was the mode of the morning.
At some point in mid-morning my manservant said he had a hankering for vegetable and boeuf soup and headed to the market for the necessary ingredients. He returned to the den and busied himself in the kitchen chopping and slicing and dicing. It was near lunchtime when all of the sous chef duties had been completed and the large iron pot placed on the fire. Bad planning is bad planning, pooches. My manservant realized that it was going to be two hours before the soup was ready for consumption and we were demanding lunch. He opted to try to prepare a muffaletta using available ingredients. Being wary of his experiment, Starlight and I insisted that he bring along pooch treats as we paraded out to the picnic bench.
Lunch was enjoyed, although my manservant struggled with his muffaletta (pooches, the olive oil in the olive spread wreaked havoc on the white bread). When he was finally cleaned up after lunch from the olive oil that covered him from head to toe, an excursion through the poochhood was suggested. Starlight and I made the best of the limited excursion and, fortunately, the pee mail left in my median was plenteous. Because of the cool temperature in the middle of the day and the abundance of pee-mails, Starlight and I declared it to be a successful excursion day!
Spoiler alert: My manservant and I are headed to Elivistown tomorrow for an overnight road trip. Woo hoo!
