Pooches, my manservant took care of his walk/run duties at an early hour this morning and returned home to head out in our back yard to begin his gardening work. The back yard was manicured with the manicuring machine and a reconstitution of one of our flowerbeds was begun. Starlight and I were quite comfortable in our morning nap mode and we chose to stay indoors while the hoes, clippers, saws, and shovels did their duty.
When it was time for yoga class, my manservant came inside and changed his clothes to his yoga costume and departed. I suggested to Starlight that we discuss our excursion destination for the day but Starlight, having spent the weekend in a distant village for a coursing trial, said she was still tired and would prefer having our excursion in the newly manicured back yard. I shook my head in disbelief and suggested that my manservant would be quite disappointed but she was adamant.
When my manservant returned from yoga class I broke the news to him and I do believe I detected a wee bit of joy in his eyes upon hearing the news. He assured me that we could design a fine excursion around Starlight’s wishes. Leftover chicken casserole from our Friday night’s guest’s visit was heated (Starlight and I chose to stick to pooch treats) and we were soon on the picnic bench admiring our well cared for back yard while we ate lunch.
Our “fine excursion” turned out to be nothing more than strolling around our back yard while my manservant lectured us on the characteristics of each plant we saw. Of course, I had to inspect my manservant’s work on reconstituting one of our flower beds that had fallen into disrepair and is dangerously close to my herb garden. I generously made several suggestions to my manservant on how he should proceed from this point in turning it into a showcase. For some reason, pooches, I’m not sure my kind suggestions were well received! Perhaps one day he will learn to take wise direction.
