Pooches, some days you wake up and you just feel like it is going to be a good day. Today was one of those days!
My manservant left for an early morning walk/run while Starlight and I were starting our morning naps after our breakfast. When he returned he said he felt that a mid-morning excursion would be in order. After tending to a few chores, my manservant headed to the kitchen, noting that we had not had a brunch excursion in some time. It wasn’t long before ham was sizzling in the skillet, after which egg-in-a-hole was prepared. The picnic hamper was procured from its resting spot, tablecloth and brunch packed away, and off we headed in the Hybridmobile.
After gliding up my Trace for a tolerable distance the Hybridmobile pulled into boundary park, noting that it had picnic tables while many of the other parks did not. It was Starlight’s turn to pick out our picnic table after which the tablecloth was unfurled, brunch brought out, and we ate hungrily (pooches, why is it eating outdoors always gives you a bigger appetite?).
Although it was approaching time for my manservant’s yoga class, Starlight and I headed to and fro across my park smelling the myriad of scents left by nocturnal visitors. We had covered most of the area when my manservant insisted that we return to our den so he wouldn’t be late for yoga.
It was a wee bit later than usual when my manservant returned from yoga. He had a large bag that had that “oh isn’t that going to be good” smell about it. A platter was withdrawn from the cabinet and, emptying two take away boxes, a pile of steamed crawfish and crab clusters was placed on the platter! Pooches, it didn’t take but a moment before we were marching out for our second picnic excursion of the day! Woo hoo!
Because the tablecloth was still by the door we picked it up and spread it out under the red oak. Starlight was a bit wary of the crawfish and eyed them nervously, taking note of their wee claws. It didn’t take but a handful of crawfish tails before she discarded her uneasiness and ate the crawfish and crab clusters with gusto.
Our bellies are full now and, despite the spring like weather outside, I imagine it was be an afternoon for a long, long nap after TWO picnic excursions!
See you tomorrow on Silent Saturday, pooches!
