Pooches, Charles Darwin once said “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change.” Starlight and I are passing with flying colors today!!!
My manservant delayed his walk/run this morning because (unbeknownst to us pooches) he had engaged some woodcutters to remove a tree and do some serious pruning on other trees in our front yard. The heat wave is still upon us and he suggested that we limit our excursion to a short stroll in the poochhood. Starlight and I agreed and we headed out down the lane.
Pooches, it was so hot! We reversed direction after we had passed the tree-lined median and headed back to our den for some relief. As we approached our den Starlight and I were startled by the sight of two humans in our front yard trying to steal one of our trees!! I immediately headed inside to call the authorities but my manservant caught up with me and explained they were woodcutters that he had engaged to remove the river birch tree and undertake serious pruning of the two oak trees. I breathed a sigh of relief that no crime was in progress and immediately suggested to Starlight that we go out and bid our farewell to the river birch. CHANGE! You gotta hate it but you gotta go with the flow I always say.
For the remainder of the day Starlight and I stayed vigilant looking out of the front windows of the den and barked whenever we felt the urge. My manservant’s “hush”s quickly turned into “shutup”s and then into “XXXXX”s. He has no sense of adventure.
It was quite an exciting day and, as a result of the removal of the river birch (R.I.P.) and the pruning of the oak trees, our front yard is now bathed in SUNSHINE! Woo hoo!!!
Tomorrow is Friday, pooches!
