Pooches, as I predicted yesterday, the temperature plunged after sunset and we awoke this morning to a temperature of -12ºC!! Everything is frozen outside and the temperature at the warmest part of the day remained below freezing at -3ºC before starting to drop again. Any thoughts of going on an excursion today would be pure fantasy. Starlight and I had to make two brief trips outside this morning and we wasted no time in banging on the back door asking to be let in because my manservant was too wimpy to accompany us outside.
The library was the site of much work activity this morning as my manservant completed planning duties for his academic responsibilities. This work was interrupted about every half hour when my manservant would head out to the birdbath with a pot of boiling water to melt the ice (yes, pooches, in order to avoid any cooked birds he would stay by the bird bath to shoo them away until the water had sufficiently cooled). I was put in charge of letting him know when the birdbath had refrozen and he would go through the process again.
Later in the morning a quick trip to the market yielded a vegetable pizza for lunch. We gathered on the Davenport in front of a roaring fire and dined heartily on the pizza. Lunch dishes have been washed, dried, and put away. We’re going to spend the afternoon helping my manservant read for his academic pursuit.
Stay warm, pooches, stay warm!
