Pooches, the sun is shining, an excursion has been undertaken, it is the last day of Christmas, and all is right with the world!
I know many of you pooches have had to endure the same wretched weather that we have in these parts. I thought it would never stop raining! Day after day of cancelled excursions have been the theme around here. Yesterday the rain finally came to an end. It been replaced by cold temperatures which promise to turn to arctic temperatures after tomorrow. Needless to say, we are all ready for spring.
My manservant did resume his exercise activities at the gym this morning as he scurried on the treadmill for his walk/run and mounted a stationary velocipede for his cycling workout. When he returned to the den he immediately said it was miserably cold outside. Then, in an effort to get out of the responsibility of taking us on an excursion today, he commented that the best part of excursions was not in going somewhere outside but in the quality time we had being together. Starlight and I immediately smelled a rat and responded in unison “Malarkey, we demand an excursion today.”
That was that and my manservant decided to schedule our excursion for a bit earlier than normal and then return to our den for lunch because of the cold temperature. Starlight and I consented and we hopped in the Hybridmobile while my manservant went to the wardrobe to retrieve our winter jackets (which he then absent-mindedly left on the dining room table). The Hybridmobile shivered quietly down the lane toward my overlook.
Pooches, my overlook was beautiful in all of the SUNSHINE but it was quite cold. Nevertheless, Starlight and I had a grand time bounding about the shoreline. Smells were in short supply as day after day of rain had washed most of them away. There were, of course, smells from last night’s nocturnal visitors which kept us occupied during our romp.
We’re back at our den now and a lunch of ham, grits, gravy, and biscuits (with raspberry jam) was plated and taken to the library. Knowing how greedy my manservant can be with the ham, I retrieved our filet of boeuf from the icebox. We ate with gusto while planning excursions for the remainder of the week.
As always, it is good to be back in some sort of normal routine, pooches!
