What a difference 24 hours makes, pooches! Yesterday, the oppressive heat kept us at our den at excursion time. The promised cold front moved through our land late yesterday and left much lower humidity and much cooler temperatures! When my manservant returned from his early morning walk/run at his walk/run park, he stirred us from our morning naps and excitedly announced that due to the cool temperatures it was Double Excursion Day!!
His plan was put into effect right away and we hopped in the Hybridmobile. It gleefully glided to my school park. Pooches, we hopped out and it was almost chilly. My manservant directed us toward my multi-use trail. I immediately put on my brakes and reminded him that I was not going to do another 5K today. He assured me that this was only a leisurely stroll and we could sniff all that we wanted. Woo hoo!
Starlight and I, feeling frisky in the comfortable weather, had a grand time sniffing along the trail, leaving no stone un-sniffed. After a long stroll, Starlight and I headed to the Hybridmobile, eager to resume our morning naps.
My manservant’s plan for the day continued being implemented at our regular excursion time. Pooches, a call was placed to my Mardi Gras restaurant and in short order we were in possession of an oyster platter! The Hybridmobile purred across my spillway and pulled in my park by the bay! Signs that greeted us on our drive in my park said that construction was underway and a beach along the shoreline was being built! No doubt, pooches, we will be coming here more often when it is completed.
Our oyster dinner was a fine meal and we were quite full upon completion. A misfortunate incident almost marred the excursion when, in a state of excitement about nearby herons, Starlight bounded off of the picnic table and ran at full speed for nearly 1 kilometer, stopping only when she reached the end of a pier. My manservant gave chase while I remained dutifully on the picnic table. Pooches, I think Starlight got an earful upon her retrieval by my manservant and the solemn march back to our table.
We’re back at our den now and it is well into afternoon naptime. As fun as the day has been, Starlight and I are pooped from all of today’s activity and will sleep soundly. My manservant has retired to the kitchen where he plans on spending the afternoon canning green tomato pickles.
What a day, pooches!
