It has been another beautifully cool day in these parts, pooches, although not quite as cool as yesterday. My manservant made the best of it and headed out this morning for a long walk/run in his walk/run park. A large part of the morning after his exercise activity was devoted to more lawn manicuring and, ahem, weeding the gravel paths that Starlight so delicately addressed the need for yesterday.
By late morning, my manservant had finished all the yard work and announced that an excursion would be held in the early afternoon. In the meantime, he said, he was going to run errands to the market and his fishmonger. Starlight and I scurried into the kitchen when he returned to see what treasures he had brought back to our den. Red snapper fillets were brought out and placed in the icebox for tonight’s fare! My manservant then pulled out items for today’s excursion lunch: a prime cut (eye of rib) of boeuf and a potato for baking! Woo hoo!! My manservant pointed out that he was being forced into fasting starting tonight at midnight and he was going to make ‘hay while the SUNSHINES’ (just an expression, pooches). We all ran out in the backyard and retrieved the charcoal grill from storage. In no time the charcoal was blazing away! Starlight and I danced merrily around the backyard (having been swept up in the wave of the celebratory mood of my manservant) as the boeuf was placed on the grill when the coals were at the proper stage.
What a fine meal it was, pooches! My manservant shared generously of the meal, although Starlight and I cautiously declined his offer of some of the baked potato swimming in butter and green onions, pooches, as onions might make our breath unpleasant. After lunch, we were barely able to stagger with our full bellies to the Hybridmobile for our excursion. The Hybridmobile lazily took us to my overlook, where we managed to stroll about and enjoy the last of the cool weather.
We’re back at our den now and will be snoozing a bit until it is time to begin cooking the next feast for the day!
