Summer sandwiches day.

Pooches, my manservant left home early this morning and was gone for quite some time.  It seems he had an early errand to do in the city and decided to stop by his walk/run park to undertake a walk/run.  Those exercises have been in short supply lately due to his Achilles thing-a-ma-bob but said his legs were a bit better this morning.  He must have misjudged their condition because he had to abandon the activity after only a kilometer.  He assured us that it would not interfere with our daily excursion.

After resting a bit, but before excursion time, my manservant journeyed to an establishment to procure a new coffee maker (pooches, my manservant says the coffee maker is absolutely essential).   When he returned, Starlight and I scurried to the kitchen and “oohed” and “aahed” as he pulled said coffee maker from the box.

We discovered that while procuring the coffee maker, my manservant had stopped by the produce stand for the first “real” tomatoes of the summer.  He also obtained a loaf of white bread, insisting that “real” tomato sandwiches must be made of white bread (he promised to apologize to the whole wheat bread gods later).  In a short amount of time we found ourselves in the Hybridmobile heading to my overlook with a bag of sandwiches and a grape soda pop to wash them down.

We found a nice shade tree at the top of my overlook and spread our tablecloth on the ground.  The first order of business was a PB&J (on white bread), with the “J” being strawberry jam.  Yum!  The second item of business was a Vidalia onion sandwich (with plenty of mayo, on white bread).  The final item of business was the focus of today’s excursion:  a juicy, acidic, tomato sandwich!  Woo hoo!!  SUMMER HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!!!

With bellies full, we concluded our excursion for the day by a stroll around my overlook and quickly relocated our stroll to a shady area on the side of my overlook.  We’re back at our den and the plan for the afternoon includes plenty of snoozing.

We're putting on our best "Please, sir, may I have some of your bacon" look.

We're about to finish our PB&J sandwich. Hurry up and pull out the tomato sandwich!

We decide to take a breather after finishing our Vidalia onion sandwich before eating the tomato sandwich.

Starlight, I think three sandwiches is a wee bit too much.

Starlight, I think three sandwiches is a wee bit too much to eat for lunch.  I’m stuffed!

It is much cooler in this shady grove.
