Pooches, we woke up to another cool and cloudy day with the promise of rain by excursion time. My manservant got an early start and headed to the gym for a strenuous walk/run followed by a ride on the stationary velocipede. Upon his return to our den he suggested that we head out on an early excursion in order to beat the rain. Pooches, that was fine with Starlight and me! About ten o’clock, after a bit of reading, my manservant suggested we hop in the Hybridmobile and get on our way as he had a few errands to run before our excursion.
First stop was at the local apothecary where my manservant was the recipient of a shingles vaccination! Ouch, pooches! Starlight and I waited in the Hybridmobile and he took forever to return. I looked nervously at the skies and the clock, afraid that the rain would start before we could begin our excursion. Eventually he returned and the Hybridmobile carried us to the market while everyone looked nervously at the darkening clouds. My manservant disappeared into the market as Starlight and I urged him to hurry.
It was about the time that my manservant emerged from the market with shopping bags in hand that the skies opened up and the rain came down. As he hopped in the Hybridmobile I felt obligated to point out that IF we had done our excursion before all of the other errands we would have beat the rain! My manservant said we shouldn’t worry – he had a plan. Pooches, the Hybridmobile quickly sped away (within the posted limit, of course) to my Trace and headed east, away from the rain. By the time we reached my overlook there was not a drop of rain to be seen. It seems my manservant’s clever scheme worked! Woo hoo!
Knowing the rain was headed our way, we quickly hopped out and had a grand time of sniffing and hopping through the tall clover. It wasn’t long, however, that we felt the first of the raindrops as the rain showers finally caught up with us. Nevertheless, we deemed the excursion successful and returned to our den.
It looks like it will be an afternoon of napping for us pooches. My manservant has headed to a one hour foot massage and promises to build a fire in the fireplace and gather his assigned books about him for the remainder of the day.
