Pooches, with the threat of rain coming this afternoon we decided to head out for an excursion earlier than usual. I sent my manservant to the kitchen to prepare our picnic lunch in the middle of the morning.
After we loaded lunch and selves into the Bumpkinmobile, we headed out. Stopping briefly to top off the tank of the Bumpkinmobile with petrol and making a purchase of liquid refreshment for our picnic, we soon arrived at my Rez. We drove out to the end of the long jetty and pulled over to dine Bumpkin-style there. The wind was blowing fiercely. My manservant unwrapped his first sandwich and took a bite and had no small amount of difficulty standing upright against the strong wind. Starlight busied herself barking at the numerous gulls circling us hoping for a bite our sandwich. The decision was made to relocate our excursion inland, so we repacked our lunch and drove to my old trace.
Conditions were much more pleasant there. We enjoyed a relaxing meal which was a repeat of last Saturday’s fare, sans the grape soda. After lunch, Starlight and I wanted to head to the woods but my manservant forbade it, saying we should eschew the woods until the tick threat had subsided.
We agreed (I’ve not mentioned it but Starlight and I suffered far more tick bites Friday than the manservant) and decided to hit the multi-use trail for some much needed excercise. After a good stroll, we climbed into the Bumpkinmobile and headed for our den, pausing only to pull to the side of the road to give our regards to some horses in a nearby pasture.
Here’s to hoping for only a small amount of rain later today, pooches.
