Pooches, as Tevye sings, “TRADITION!”
We finally seem to be back on track for our traditional excursions! I thought it was a close call today but we managed to get one in, albeit a late one.
It all started this morning. It seems there were some kind servants coming over to clean rug and furniture in the pack’s den. They were supposed to be here at eight-thirty sharp but didn’t show up until nine o’clock. Their work was quite slow and caused my manservant to miss his yoga class. He was stewing while they were working and telling me about all the errands he had to run before we went on an excursion. By the time they finished and their stipend had been paid my manservant was quite testy.
Hurrying out of the door he set about completing his tasks. By the time he returned it was after one o’clock and Starlight and I were hungry and ready to head out. Starlight was quite ‘wound up’ as she had been in the kitchen all morning while the workers were here. My manservant suggested that we dine here as his Jumpin’ Jenny and turnip greens would be a difficult thing to eat in the back of a truck on a raw day! Starlight and I saw the wisdom of his suggestion so we gathered at the table and had a nice meal.
We quickly loaded into my manservant’s truck and headed out. I insisted that we go to my Saturday park as I had yet to wish Juan a happy new year. We arrived just in time to see Juan and his gaggle in the parking lot. Pleasantries were exchanged and afterward Starlight and I charged around my park watching brief flurries of snow!
Chilled to the bone in short order, we loaded in the truck and headed for an afternoon in front of the fireplace.
“The pooch, the pooch! Tradition!” (apologies to Tevye)
